Which type suits you? A folding laptop stand lifts your screen closer to eye level on any table and folds flat into a drawer when you're done. A monitor and laptop stand holds both screens in the space of one on a small desk. A bed tray has fold-out legs and sits over your lap, so it's ideal for working or having breakfast in bed. A lap desk rests directly on your knees with a cushioned or flat base.

Look for ventilation holes or an open base to stop your laptop overheating on soft surfaces, and pair a stand with a separate keyboard and mouse for the most comfortable setup. Trays are brilliant for a few hours, but if you're working from the sofa every day, a proper desk setup will look after your neck and back.
