Wall & Floating Shelves for a Home Office
When floor space is tight, the wall is your best friend. A couple of floating shelves above or beside the desk take books, chargers and plants off your work surface, and they make a tidy backdrop for video calls.
Floating shelves for a home office
- Wooden floating shelves. The 60 cm walnut floating shelf with hidden brackets (€69.99), the oak floating ledge set (€86.97), oak shelves with wooden holders (€109.99) and a set of 2 80 cm floating shelves in white and natural wood (€49.99).
- Floating shelves with drawers. Handmade wooden shelves with one drawer (€89.99) or two drawers (€129.99), in 4 colours, to hide chargers and stationery.
- Small and decorative shelves. The oval Capsule shelf (€35.68) and the geometric metal Tetris shelf (€36.07) fit beside a window or above your screen.
- Wall bookcase. The wall-mounted 8-cube bookcase (85 cm, €59.99) holds books and files without taking any floor space.
If you'd rather not drill at all, the LinkUp pole organiser stands on the desk and builds upwards instead.
Fixing tip for Irish homes
Many Irish houses have solid block walls, which hold shelves well with the right plugs. Plasterboard or stud walls need cavity fixings or a screw into a stud. Many shelves don't include fixings, so check what's behind the wall before you buy plugs and screws. For more ideas, read our guide to small space storage ideas.
